Eugène Narbonne was a student of Jobbé-Duval and Henri Achille Zo at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiere.  He was a painter of landscapes, portraits and nudes which are notable for their fluid technique and vibrant coloring. From 1939 to 1955 he was head of painting at the School of Fine Arts in Paris where he taught such artists as Bernard Buffet and Louis Vuillermoz.  He exhibited at the Salon of French artists from 1904 where his work was recognized with a silver medal in 1914 and a gold medal in 1925.  He was made an Officier d'Academie in 1923 and Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur in 1931.
